What are Pick ‘Ems?

“Pick ’ems” (or Pick’em games) are a type of prediction game, usually used in sports, fantasy leagues, or betting contexts, where the goal is simply to pick the winner of a matchup — not worry about point spreads or complicated odds.

Why Pick ‘Ems?

To transform passive sports viewing into an engaging, interactive experience, we introduced Pick ’Ems, a popular free-to-play prediction game among fans. Launching this feature ahead of the NFL season allowed us to capture peak user attention, drive engagement during live games, and build stronger emotional connections with our platform. And more importantly, this is a great way to drive users to FuboTV’s sports betting platform.

Across platforms

Pick ‘Ems is available across all of FuboTV’s streaming platforms. We designed and delivered a consistent, engaging experience for sports fans on:

Mobile: iOS / Android

Web browser

TV: Roku / Apple TV / Android TV / FireTV / SmartTV

Bringing this experience to such a diverse set of devices posed unique design and technical challenges - details and solutions are highlighted in the portfolio deep dives.

Encouraging return engagement

To further gamify the experience and encourage users to return, we introduced a leaderboard and designed a celebration moment to reward wins, making the experience more engaging and memorable.

Success metrics

Over the six months since Pick ‘Ems launched, we observed metrics including

Impressions, Click Through Rate, Take Rate, Engagement Rate, Completion Rate, Avg. number of questions answered, WoW Retention, Conversion to sports book, etc.

We monitored analytics closely across all platforms and made post-MVP adjustments to optimize the experience ahead of the NFL season, ensuring the best possible free-to-play experience for users. More details on these updates will be shared in the portfolio deep dive.
